Kate Meszarosova Violin
Kate Meszarosova fell in love with the violin at the age of seven. She studied violin and viola in her native Slovakia, performing with a range of bands and orchestras. After moving to Northern Ireland she performed with the Belfast Youth Orchestra and the Ulster Youth Orchestra for 4 years. She also holds a HND in Music Performance. Kate is also a talented singer and actress and has appeared for Ulster Operatic Company in
Jesus Christ Superstar and
Okalahoma! at the Grand Opera House, Belfast. Kate also starred in short film
No Hope, directed by Aidan Gault. Kate’s love of music started with dance aged five, and she continues to pursue this, teaching Slovakian dance and violin in Belfast.
Matt Hewer Percussion
Over the past 10 years Matt has become a regular on the NI music scene. An accomplished percussionist, Matt has played such diverse genres as African traditional, Samba, Maracatu, Arabic, Egyptian, Cuban, Reggae, Soul, Blues/Rock, Metal, Contemporary Folk, Americana/Roots music and Jazz. He is a singer, songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist. He is also a published poet. I addition to playing with Sinead Coll, Matt plays percussion with The Secret Animals, Mudblind, Stef Campbell and Scream Blue Murmur. He has featured on many recordings and local radio and has played in venues and festivals all over the island of Ireland, performing to crowds up to 15,000 people.
Andy Turner Cello
Andy Turner is a classically trained cellist, who began playing at the age of seven. He holds a HND in Music Performance and graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Queen’s University, Belfast in 2013. He has performed with a range of orchestras and chamber groups including the South Eastern Senior Orchestra, the Queen’s University Orchestra and The Cube Ensemble. Andy has an eclectic taste in music and loves exploring new styles and genres. He especially enjoys playing and composing new music and trying out new ideas on the cello.
